How to Download and Get Started with Your Study Surveys
What Is MyCap?
MyCap is a free mobile app that connects directly to our research database. It is how you will receive and complete your monthly BREATHE-CC surveys from your phone or tablet. The app sends you reminders when a survey is due and securely transmits your responses to the study team. You can even complete surveys offline — your data will sync automatically the next time you open the app with an internet connection.

MyCap is available for free on both iOS and Android devices. Search for "MyCap" in your app store, or use the links below. Make sure you download the app called MyCap (not "MyCap Classic").
Getting Started
After enrolling in the BREATHE-CC study, the study team will provide you with a unique QR code or link to join the project in MyCap. Follow these steps to get set up:
Install the MyCap app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) using the links above.
Open MyCap and tap "Join a Study." Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code provided by the study team, or tap the link you received via email or text message.
You will be asked to create a 6-digit passcode to protect your account. You can also enable Face ID or fingerprint unlock if your device supports it.
When prompted, allow MyCap to send you notifications. This is how you will receive reminders when a new monthly survey is ready for you to complete.
Your available surveys will appear on the home screen. Tap a survey to begin — questions are displayed one at a time. When finished, tap "Submit" to send your responses to the study team.
Tips for Success
Push notifications are the easiest way to stay on track with your monthly surveys. If you accidentally turned them off, go to your phone's Settings and enable notifications for MyCap.
Try to complete each monthly survey as soon as you receive the notification. Remember, missing no more than one survey per 6-month period qualifies you for the $25 completion bonus.
MyCap includes a secure messaging feature that allows you to communicate directly with the study team. Use it for questions about surveys or to report changes. Note: messaging is not for urgent or emergency contact.
Keep MyCap installed for the full 18-month study. Deleting the app will remove data stored on your device (though previously submitted responses are safe on our server). If you need to reinstall, use your original QR code or link to rejoin.
