EPI-BIO Lecture Series at UK College of Public Health

Dr. Melaram presented his latest research "Daily Time Series Analysis of Ambient Ozone and Fine Particulate Matter Levels in Corpus Christi, Texas" as part of the EPI-BIO Lecture Series hosted by the University of Kentucky College of Public Health. Addressing an audience of graduate students and faculty, Dr. Melaram shared findings from a five-year analysis (2019–2023) examining the seasonal and temporal dynamics of ambient ozone and fine particulate matter in the petrochemical city of Corpus Christi. He highlighted that ozone concentrations remained consistently elevated throughout the study period, with springtime peaks and summer minima, while fine particulate matter levels exhibited summer peaks influenced by periodic meteorological events. The findings underscore the importance of continuous air quality monitoring and its implications for environmental health policy and public health practice in industrial coastal regions.
